I had an issue where a LibreOffice Writer window became tiny when I tried to unmaximize it. 
Here is how I solved it.

- Click on the application's dock icon to focus on it.
- Press 'alt + space' to open the actions menu. It should appear wherever your tiny window is.
- Click on resize and use the mouse to set the desired size for your window.
