Biogeochemical Cycles
Ø Chemical elements of life tend to circulate in the biosphere from environment to organisms
and back to the environment……defined as the Biogeochemical Cycles
Ø Cycles divided into 2 categories:
a) reservoir pool, the large, slow moving, non-biological component .
For example, oceans in water cycles or coal pool holding carbon
b) labile or cycling pool: chemicals held for short periods of 7me,
moving back and forth. For example, plants and animals
