When working with databases, it is not uncommon to need to remove a column from a table. In Laravel, this can be easily accomplished using the dropColumn
method.
dropColumn
MethodThe dropColumn
method may be called on a Schema
builder instance to remove a column from a table. The method takes the name of the column as its first argument.
use Illuminate\Support\Facades\Schema;
use Illuminate\Database\Schema\Blueprint;
use Illuminate\Database\Migrations\Migration;
class RemoveColumnFromTable extends Migration
{
/**
* Run the migrations.
*
* @return void
*/
public function up()
{
Schema::table('users', function (Blueprint $table) {
$table->dropColumn('email_verified_at');
});
}
/**
* Reverse the migrations.
*
* @return void
*/
public function down()
{
Schema::table('users', function (Blueprint $table) {
$table->timestamp('email_verified_at')->nullable();
});
}
}
In this example, the dropColumn
method is called on the users
table to remove the email_verified_at
column.
Laravel's dropColumn
method provides an easy way to remove columns from a table. By using this method, you can simplify the process of making changes to your database schema.
