安全：
安全系统涵盖其系统资源(保存的数据、内存、磁盘等)的安全性，跨越恶意更改、非法访问以及差异或不一致。安全提供了一种机制(认证和加密)来分析用户以允许使用系统。
例如，在一个公司中，信息是由完全不同的工人获取的，但是不存在于该显式组织中的用户或在不同企业中运营的用户无法获取信息。安全是公司提供某种安全机制的重要任务，以便外部用户无法访问组织的知识。
保护：
保护处理对系统资源的访问。它决定了特殊用户可以访问或渗透哪些文件。系统的保护应确认过程和用户的批准。因此，这些许可用户和进程将关心中央处理单元、内存和替代来源。除了如何实施控制之外，保护机制还应该提供一条路径来指定控制是强制性的。
可以从安全方面给出保护的例子，任何组织都会有许多部门，由几个员工操作。各部门之间会经常共享信息，但不会共享敏感信息。因此，完全不同的员工具有不同的访问权限，他们将访问定义的数据。
